Oracle is evidently trying to end out the year with an open-source bang as it releases frequent VirtualBox 4.0 betas, they just pushed out the long-awaited MySQL 5.5, and they have now released Oracle Open Office 3.3. At the same time, they have also introduced Oracle Cloud Office.
Oracle Cloud Office is built upon the Open Document Format (ODF) too and it's designed as an office suite for web and mobile devices. Oracle Cloud Office is accessible via any web-browser and supports documents, spread-sheets, and presentations.
Open Office 3.3 supports new custom properties handling, embedding of standard PDF fonts, support for up to one million rows in a spread-sheet, a common search tool-bar, and many other changes. The changes to this GPLv3-licensed office suite are detailed in their development documentation.
The free Open Office can be downloaded at OpenOffice.org. Meanwhile, the OpenOffice.org developers that dissented from Oracle continue to be hard at work on LibreOffice.
